“The myths use symbols that point to love and togetherness, but we can get so obsessed with signaling we forget the love and togetherness.” Sublime, dear one

And I’ll be over here jamming out to Fats Domino (hey pop!) and eating candy! We’re all one and the same…it’s too easy to forget that.

And I’m thinking of the non-Catholic teacher at my very Catholic high school who said “You don’t get to tell anyone their beliefs are weird. You believe you are eating and drinking the body and blood of a man.”

“These are the years for imprinting: love is all there is.”❤️‍🔥

I read this sitting on the couch after a massive Ramadan Iftar we spent all day prepping for. Kids are in bed and I’m now in my pj’s too. The wanting of the symbols is so real, but we can’t mix it up with living. Gorgeously gorgeously written

“Love is all there is. You live it if you’re lucky and you die into it, no question” holy shit, this is probably the realest thing i’ve heard. When you love someone it doesn’t matter what is going on or what time you get up to look for the easter eggs;) it matters that you are with them and they are with you. beautiful work Isabel!!!!!💕

Amen what it’s all about! Messy chaotic life and just everything being love. Helpful reminders as always. I love waking and reading this to set off my week. We all need the reminders of what really matters and how to be present with the reality rather than the delusion that attempts to pull us in

What a marvelous glimpse into your family, Isabel! I paused it halfway through to order the movie “No Direction Home” on Apple TV. My high school buddy had sent me a handwritten CD with that concert on it, and I remember being blown away when the crowd turned on Bobby. I’ve never seen the movie though, and I look forward to it.

This was a most delightful read, and I feel like I know “Pappy” at least in some form, and I laughed my ass off many times. It was also pleasant you steered away from the female anatomy, for once, lol. Really, really enjoyed this one! Thank you!

How sweet, when plans are dashed and we see what’s really there. I felt the “symbols pointing to love” aspect deeply. Sometimes we forget the whole point of all of this.

My band have a song called love will be all there is 👉https://youtu.be/iNZVZoB1iWw?si=pyeIwADlfYkf172v love is being ok and flowing with what is, been late for church lately and show up with unbrushed hair but I sing from the diaphragm in full centered power, and waive peace ✌️ in full sincerity.

Let go of fake things, bring attention to the real, God Loves us unconditionally even though sometimes we don't. Pappy knows Truth; we are all Gods, we are approved of even though we skip church, the second coming of Christ is the awakening of a pure heart in each of us. Observe when things don't go as planned, it's just another interesting way, neither good nor bad.

Stay Real and Noble! This is a beautiful write. ❤️🙏👍

-- This piece was exquisitely written, Isabel. ✨️

P.S. Also, I have a good laugh every time I randomly notice your bio updates. Please keep them coming.

i felt for a minute like the protagonist of his "Tangled Up in Blue" (my personal favorite Dylan song) vaguely confused trying to decipher the time-line of this piece which had the echo of one you wrote 2 years ago and i read first having discovered your writing last year.....aieeeeeeeeeeee time flies.....

the re-tilling of that fertile soil reveals spontaneous even rebellious new growth even if from same nutrients and i gotta agree with Thaissa who alerted to delights of your changing bio although i'm curious as to the subtle distinction between "sovereign" and "autonomous" and also waiting for the mention of living with "5 penises" which may be pushing your own boundaries but from the looks of this piece not much ha

I lack Pappy’s creativity and volume of spirit, but I share his inability to lie about Santa, and know he’d be fine that I just can’t dye eggs (because it’s messy and I hate it). This essay is beautiful, just like the girls your mom, he, and Bobby raised.

Once again your description of Pappy’s wisdom that you share “God is inside us and love is all there is “ colors the piece with insight, gratitude and joy- decorating eggs or not.

"They outside." I can just hear that. So stinking funny! This is such a good one! And from the craft of writing point of view, I really love how you have tweaked, edited, and played with this piece over the years. A fun bonus of a newsletter is that it isn't set in stone and can evolve. I love that. Happy Easter and Happy spring!
